Hope Cove - Hidden Gem

Hope Cove is rather unusual in that it consists of two villages, Outer Hope and Inner Hope. Smallish sandy beach, rock pools and clean sea, make Hope an attractive proposition for couples and families with quieter holidays in mind. If you fancy trying some local seafood, try the lobster pod bistro the amazing view from the pobs is well worth it.
 
A well-kept local secret that boasts two glorious sandy beaches and an array of small eateries, Hope Cove is a delightful hidden gem worth visiting in any season, though is perhaps best seen during the summer months.

Bantham Beach – sea, sand and seafood shack

Bantham beach is one of the best in the area and ticks all right the boxes if you want a typical English seaside holiday. But there’s more to Bantham beach than just sun, sand and ice cream. It’s also one of the best surfing beaches in South Devon. The beach has got mellow waves for beginners (known in surf-speak as ‘ankle slappers’)
 
Bantham is shallow and sandy so it’s great for families with kids who want to do a little swimming or paddling, and to keep anxious parents’ minds at rest there are lifeguards on duty from May to September. At low tide, you’ll find loads of shallow pools that warm up quickly in the sun and are perfect for crab hunting.

Thurlestone Sands and South Milton Sands – sea, sand and seafood shack

Just a mile from the village is a popular long sandy beach with the iconic Thurlestone Rock standing majestically out to sea. Popular amongst locals and holidaymakers alike, South Milton Sands is now owned and managed by the National Trust. A small wooden shack – the Beachhouse – offers fantastic food, and as you would expect, a wide range of seafood.

Slapton Sands - Worth every pebble

Slapton Sands is a beautiful pebble beach that stretched for almost two miles from Strete Gate to the village of Torcross. Don’t let the pebbles put you off, its a great beach with plenty of room to have a large piece of it to yourself! Just behind the beach is the largest natural freshwater lake in the South West and home to a vast array of flora and fauna.

Cookworthy Museum Tour

Tucked away on the cliffs above Salcombe is this hidden paradise: a subtropical garden, bursting with colour, filled with exotic and rare plants and surprises round every corner, which surrounds the seaside home of scientist and inventor Otto Overbeck.
